RITUALS IN ROUND. CULTURAL CENTER OF COOPERATION
Curated by Milagro Torreblanca and Rita Simoni.

Taking the plot of the artistic, affective thread and exchange of enriching thought, from Residency in Residences, Rituals in Round emerge as a materialized expression in an exhibition in the Vigo room.
This room is characterized by being a narrow space that barely widens, which determines a provision of delimited works and in a strong reciprocal relationship.
"Art is a guarantee of healing" is a well-known phrase of the great artist Louise Bourgeois.
Each artist works with her own language, in very diverse supports inserted in the great field of contemporary art.

By virtually locating each work entity in the room, the idea of a healing ritual arises, that which unites us from the invisible group solidity since 2020. This is how pairs born from the works themselves are suggested:
Rituals from color (Carla Beretta and Rut Rubinson), Rituals from the body (Ileana Hochmann and Ariela Naftal), Rituals from the word texture (Silvia Brewda and No Name), Rituals from the earth (María Emilia Marroquín and Rita Simoni).
The works come together in Ronda, linked by a subtle movement that is manifested by languages and spatialities.
The round is open, it invites the viewer to be part of the healing ritual of art.

Curatorial text:
Since the time of the Pandemic, daily habits around the world have changed.
The effects are still being experienced, and possibly these are here to stay. Local events take on a global dimension. Communications were digitized and massified.
The urgency imposed by climate change, the recurrence of wars, the pressures for resources, excess in general as a mode of human behavior, have become an all-encompassing tide.
What name will end up receiving this time? or why should we name it? How to describe what we do not understand, what we have never felt? How to say the unsayable, reflect on confinement, uncertainty, fear, isolation, social distance, eternal time, the future that the only thing certain is its non-existence?
In April 2020, in the context of preventive social isolation caused by the COVID-19 virus pandemic, the "Residencia en Residencias" (RenR) project emerged as the original idea of Rita Simoni, who brought together six other female visual artists from Argentina. who work using their own homes as a production platform and the support of virtual communications.
The artists are: Carla Beretta, Silvia Brewda, Ileana Hochmann, María Emilia Marroquín, Ariela Naftal, Rut Rubinson and Rita Simoni herself. In 2021 Milagro Torreblanca joins.
RenR has participated in 2021 with a video of the “UNA(S)+” exhibition at OI Futuro, Rio de Janeiro, curated by María Arlete Gonçalves and Ileana Hochmann, in which South American artists participated. From these first experiences as antecedents of an artistic, affective thread and an enriching exchange of thought, the orbit of action is multiplied to broaden, nurture and expand this plot. Rituals in Ronda emerged as an expression materialized in an exhibition in the Vigo hall of the Cooperation Cultural Center. The narrow space that barely widens, determines an arrangement of delimited works and in a strong reciprocal relationship.

Milagro Torreblanca - Rita Simoni / April 2022

In April 2020, in the context of preventive social isolation caused by the COVID-19 virus pandemic, the "Residence in Residences" (RenR) project emerged from an original idea by Rita Simoni, who brings together six artists who work from their own homes as a production platform and support for virtual exchange. The artists are: Carla Beretta, Silvia Brewda, Ileana Hochmann, María Emilia Marroquín, Ariela Naftal, Rut Rubinson and Rita Simoni herself. In 2021 Milagro Torreblanca joins.

In accordance with this artistic and affective thread, Rituals in Ronda takes a specific form based on the characteristics of the Vigo room of the CCC, where the works interact with each other, in a strong reciprocal relationship. Based on a phrase from the great artist Louise Bourgeois: "Art is a guarantee of healing", the exhibited pieces come together in a round, according to their languages and spatialities. Hence the title of the exhibition, which invites the viewer to be part of this healing ritual. Sala Abraham Vigo [PB] End: 06/26/22
