Finoikos – October 2025 – Finochietto 630 Buenos Aires City.

Installation of photographs printed on canvas, digitally and manually altered with textile elements. Shelter of fabrics and logs, light fixtures, jars with organic material, ceramics.
FINOIKOS weaves together FINO (the green house) as territory, with OIKOS, that Greek word that alludes to the house, the home, the ecosystem we inhabit and that inhabits us. A refuge, a territory of life. It is also an invitation to curiosity, to play, to simply being.
In the cracks of the cement, where there seems to be no room for anything but passage or neglect, dwelling-worlds are born. Weeds, sprouts, mosses: small life forms that resist, persist, transform, and are transformed. As a gesture of observation and connection, Rita Simoni's manipulated photographs capture and expand the spontaneous life that emerges in the urban crevices, the life of the city's secret inhabitants. The plants—these weeds—these beings that sprout on the walls, are not weeds: they are language. A language that transgresses human structures, that speaks of the connection with nature, and also of fragility. Around these images, other materialities grow: a fictional vegetation that intertwines and overflows the wall.
The project features the participation of Fernanda Menvielle, a biologist and composter, whose work intertwines with the artistic dimension of the exhibition, blurring the boundaries between art and everyday ecology. With a poetics where the remnants of natural materials from daily life, the "dry" and the "wet," combine to form a new vital substance. An act of reconciliation with the Earth, honoring the beauty of the OIKOS with its ceaseless capacity for self-composition, for creating a future born from the decomposition of "waste."
The space is populated with a laboratory that unfolds a scene of mixtures: with jars inhabited by ferments, dried flowers, fungi, and ceramics. Living matter in evolution, where life is conceived as cycles in transformation. What decomposes nourishes other forms and other lives. Nothing is permanent; an end connects with a new beginning. Presiding over the room, a plant-covered canopy invites connection and reflection. Dyed fabrics, branches that support. It is a minimal, nomadic refuge, a transient oikos, an intimate space for contemplation, to allow feelings and thoughts to flow. As in compost: what is mixed, transforms.
FINOIKOS is an invitation to consider the territory from its margins. To see the human house integrated with nature. A space to pause, smell, and observe what we usually overlook. An opportunity to leave our mark, as a promise of connection, integration, and care. FINOIKOS proposes a hybrid space where disciplines, languages, materials, and ways of life intertwine without seeking to resolve one another. A territory where questions, play, and transformation are cultivated. To play is to take a risk. And this exhibition is also that: a wager. To open oneself up, to get involved, to inhabit the uncertain with attentiveness.
